Gisburn Anticline

Prospectivity in Ribblesdale Fold Belt. The strike line E86E-39 trending SW-NE across Gisburn Anticline (axis red dashed) is interpreted here using the classic model of Boyer and Elliott (1982).

Two lateral ramps connected by a floor-fault form a shape which forces the observed fold geometry into the northward-pushed cover sequence. Even where the seismic is difficult to pick at depth, the geometry at intra-Chatburn level (blue) is a good guide to structure style at basement level.
